CADENCE STRATEGIES,through its principal, Suzanne Denbak was responsible for the design, funding and construction of the expansion of the Whistler Conference Centre. She also led a variety of initiatives to  improve access to Whistler and to enhance the guest experience

SERVICES PROVIDED FROM 1998 - 2003:

  • Developed an economic impact model in conjunction with the Resort Municipality of Whistler, to measure the
    value of tourism in Whistler as a tool to generate ongoing public and private support for infrastructure enhancements
    and land use prioritie
  • Developed business case for the expansion and renovation of the Whistler Conference Centre
  • Secured Board of Directors approval to proceed with expansion project
  • Raised over $11 million in funds to support Conference Centre renovation
  • Designed facility to LEED (Leadership in Environmental Engineering Design) standards to construct one of
    the 'greenest' conference facilities in North America
  • Phase I construction commenced in October 2002 with reopening the following year Initiated negotiations
    for naming rights leading to signed contract with TELUS
  • Addressed implications of significant highway construction on Whistler visitation and negotiated acceptable
    road closure/delay schedule to minimize impact on visitation
  • Participated in development of key success factors for a destination resort as part of Whistler's
    Comprehensive Sustainability Plan
